Lennar pays $5.4 million for West Loop parcel

A venture of homebuilder Lennar Corp. paid $5.4 million for an 84,254-square-foot parcel at the southeast corner of Madison and Green streets in the West Loop, according to Cook County records. Miami-based Lennar has permission to build up to 167 residential units on the site, according to a city zoning document. The Lennar venture bought the property from a entity led by Seymour “Sy” Taxman, CEO of Skokie-based Taxman Corp., which developed a retail property anchored by a Mariano's Fresh Market south of the empty lot.
