Japanese barbecue chain Gyu-Kaku plans to open a restaurant on the edge of the Randolph Street dining corridor in the West Loop. The firm is opening an outlet in a 2,900-square-foot building at 1364 W. Randolph St., according to a person familiar with the deal. While the center of gravity for dining in the West Loop is closer to Randolph and Halsted streets, some restaurant groups are pushing west, betting the neighborhood's growth means there are enough customers to go around on the busy dining strip.
