Developer Shapack Partners is set to start construction of an office building at the gateway to the Fulton Market district while putting a nearby building it owns up for sale. The Chicago firm's deals will test demand for real estate in the once-gritty area, which has ramped up in recent years amid rapid changes. Within the next week, the developer plans to start building a seven-story, 70,000-square-foot building at the corner of Fulton Market and Halsted Street, alongside the lighted "Fulton Market District" sign that serves as an entryway to the area, CEO Jeff Shapack said.
