After deciding to close its flour mill in the Fulton Market District, Archer Daniels Midland is setting itself up to cash in on the neighborhood's real estate boom. The Chicago-based agriculture giant has hired a broker to sell a 2.2-acre site at 1300 W. Carroll Ave. where it has operated a mill for 120 years. ADM in June disclosed plans to close the facility and transfer production to a new mill in Mendota, about 90 miles to the west. The property covers a full city block on the edge of the Fulton Market District, which has emerged as one of the city's hottest neighborhoods, attracting real estate investors and developers, and big companies like Google and McDonald's.
