Building on its buzz, West Loop becomes a hotel hot spot

The rise of the West Loop has been largely rooted in its restaurants. Finally, we have a place to sleep after filling the belly. Accommodations began to emerge in the West Loop three years ago, with the opening of Soho House, on Green Street. In recent months, the neighborhood has added a bed and breakfast with Australian roots and a hip, artsy Ace Hotel. Up next are several more projects: a 119-room Nobu, expected to open next August; a 175-room Hoxton, slated for March 2019; a hotel from the Equinox fitness chain, also on deck for 2019; and a 16-story Hyatt, likely in 2020, that will largely be an extended-stay hotel serving the new McDonald’s global headquarters being built on the site of Oprah’s old Harpo Studios.
