Located in the heart of Chicago’s hot and rapidly-changing Fulton Market District, a run-down former meatpacker is ready to start its conversion into a new commercial development. Yesterday, the City of Chicago issued a $7 million renovation permit that will see the three-story brick and timber structure at 939 W. Fulton Market eventually reopen as office, retail, and—very likely—restaurant space. Acquired by New York-based Madison Capital in 2015 in a four-property deal worth $27 million, the old industrial building will also add a green roof and elevated outdoor terrace.
