New York firm takes hold of prime Fulton Market block

A New York investor that has been assembling properties in the Fulton Market District now owns an entire block fronting Fulton Street on the doorstep to the fast-changing neighborhood. In a deal that bolsters its portfolio in the trendy West Loop corridor, a venture of Thor Equities paid nearly $12.3 million last week for the former Isaacson & Stein Fish buildings at 800-810 W. Fulton St., a Thor spokesman confirmed. Thor bought the former industrial warehouses totaling 26,000 square feet from developer R2, which ditched its original plan to turn the properties into a flagship retail space and instead opted to cash out.
