Chicago developer planning Fulton Market apartments, offices

A Chicago developer angling to build a hotel and office building in the middle of the Fulton Market District is upping its bet on the neighborhood with a pair of ambitious projects just about a block away. LG Development is proposing a two-building, 479-unit apartment complex and an 11-story office building on a pair of properties along the 1100 block of Lake Street, according to a source familiar with the plans. The real estate firm is set to pitch its vision for the sites to a West Loop neighborhood group on July 30. If it wins community backing and city approval for the project, it will buy the properties for more than $30 million from sausage maker and longtime Fulton Market company ATK Foods, the source said.
