Ballast Point plans to open Fulton Market brewpub next year

Ballast Point, the San Diego-based brewery known for Sculpin IPA and Grapefruit Sculpin, plans to open a brewpub in Chicago's booming Fulton Market district early next year. Ballast Point intends to open a 12,000-square-foot "research and development" brewery, restaurant and a rooftop bar on North Green Street in a former meatpacking plant that's been redeveloped into office and retail space. Ballast Point's first Midwestern location reflects its continued efforts to grow the brand nationally since being acquired by Constellation Brands' Chicago-based beer division for $1 billion in 2015.
